Glendale Park trail is located at Glendale Park in Independence MO on Lee's Summit Road. The
Glendale Park trail is 1/3 mile long and is between Crackerneck Road and Lee's Summit Road. There are playgrounds
at the Glendale Park on the inside loop of the trail. Glendale Park is a popular park for families to hang out
in Independence MO. The Glendale Park playground was renovated in the 1990s.
Parents and neighbors around Glendale Park, Neighborhood No. 29, began their own grassroots
efforts in the early 1990s to build and revitalize this midtown park with funds they raised through aluminum and
metals recycling programs. Before their project began, rusted play equipment filled a weedy, trash filled area. New
playground equipment and a walking trail were added through the hard work of the neighborhood. Their efforts were
not wasted as Glendale Park is now one of the most popular, well used parks in the city (W. Ashmore, personal
communication, May 2006).
